A Happier Year

It’s happened. We’ve entered another new year.

2017 was pretty exciting. How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin’ Days was published, and edits were completed for The Girl Without Magic and Boy of Blood.

But let’s take a closer look at the writing progression.

I’m a crazy person who is really a happier, saner person when freakishly busy and writing all the time. Usually, that means four 60-70,0000 word projects a year. I know, it’s crazy.

Last year, I started off living in a condo with big birds out my window. The Florida life led to Ten Things Not to Do When Everyone is Trying to Kill You, the sequel to How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin’ Days.

Then I had to take a bit of a break from writing. We’ll say it was because I was traveling, but really my side job that pays bank picked up, and I needed to pay for my travel addiction.

So I didn’t write for about a month. I know, it’s insane to me, too!

Then I started on my biggest project to date. An adult fantasy that clocks in at over 100,000 words, which compared to George RR Martin might be nothing, but for me it’s a ton. The project, which is currently in the loving hands of my awesome agent, has a complex world and six different points of view moving in different directions, so it took basically the whole summer to complete.

Then I gave up on all life that didn’t involve living in a tent or the release of How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin’ Days. I wrote a short story and a few other piddly little things, but I wasn’t the happiest human for a bit, so I let the writing keep sliding.

Until my husband reminded me I’m happier when I’m writing, so why would I let people who are meany poo poo evil butt munches from Hades distract me from doing something that brings me peace and joy.

Needless to say, the husband was completely right.

So the project for the year was the sequel to The Girl Without Magic in The Chronicles of Maggie Trent, currently titled, though it’ll probably change a dozen times, The Girl Locked With Gold.

With a current goal of sending the manuscript in by the end of the month, I’ve got my work cut out for me!

And then it’s on to the final book in the Girl of Glass series. Then maybe that project about the young girl with the tattoo of a raven. Then we have the other dystopian. Maybe another visit to Bryant Adams.

It’s going to be a really happy year.
