An Author's Self-Worth

The summer—at least from an Alaskan point of view—is winding to a close.

It’s been an interesting season for me for sure. With lots of edits, an unexpected knee surgery, and some…interesting publishing news, the schedule for the summer has not gone as planned.

I’m trying to be cool and roll with it, but when you’re used to high productivity and quick motion, it can be hard to step back and let slow and steady win the race. I do have another sequel for one of my series almost ready to send out to my agent and publisher. I am getting ready for the final set of revisions on my new mystery WIP. I am working on my new children’s musical. I’ve also got plans for some huge sales coming up, and the SEO on this website is getting some major polishing done.

Still, I can’t help feeling that the summer has flown by and I haven’t used my time to my best advantage.

I know that doesn’t sound entirely sane, but it’s who I am as a person. I judge my self-worth based on productivity, which is a problem.

Hopefully, life will move back into a routine soon and I’ll get back to my normal hyper-productive schedule. In the meantime, I’m going to try and pack in a few more hikes as knee rehab, plug away at my current projects and make a list of what I need to accomplish this fall. Because in the blink of an eye winter will be here and I’ve got miles to go before the end of the year.
