The Never-Ending Journey

The Never-Ending Journey

I love learning. I love interesting tidbits and mind-blowing new discoveries. Which is a really good thing since I’m an Indie author.

There is so much to learn in the publishing industry, and I’m not going to lie—going it alone can be super intimidating. And it’s not for the lack of information. There is TOO much information, and some of it is conflicting.

Take creating ads.

Guru A explains in his marketing course that metric X is all you really need to know for your Amazon ads.

Guru B promises measuring Y is how you start to really make money.

Guru C says everyone else is losing you income because all that matters is Z.

Guru D yells to the universe that they are all wrong, but here is how to make an excel spreadsheet.

Guru me says I need a break, does anyone have a glass of wine?

And do you know what the super maddening part is? All those Gurus are probably right! And the 22,000 other people out there who have written books on advertising for the Indie Author probably have some really great points, too. Problem is I have to write, so I don’t have time to read all 22,003 books about how to craft the perfect Amazon ad.

So, I’m going to do what overwhelmed folks have been doing since the beginning of time. Absorb one small segment of information at a time, ignoring the pile of new information there’s no way any human on Earth will ever be able to thoroughly dig through…and buy a bottle of wine.
