Lifting the Curtain

Lifting the Curtain

I really miss theatre.

I will openly admit that I am one of the very fortunate actors who has a ready-made storytelling outlet I can turn to whenever I want. Writing may not have the same instant gratification as being onstage, but at least I'm communicating to an audience, even if they are literally half-a-world away.

My loving husband pointed out that my desperate need to get back under the stage lights may, in fact, be bleeding into my books even more than usual.

It's not a new thing for theatre, especially musical theatre, to sneak into my author work. There's a bit of Les Miserables in The Tethering. Pippin is featured in How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin' Days.

But Three Simple Steps to Wizarding Domination may, in fact, win for most musical nods.

For your preview pleasure, I've pasted one of the more blatant moments below. And for the readers who aren't musical theatre people, don't worry. I promise Three Simple Steps to Wizarding Domination will have plenty of laughs for you as well. There will be the usual mayhem and absurdity, but my actor's heart misses the stage. So I sent Bryant to check out Broadway for me.
